Charges applicable on Pledging and Un-pledging Stocks:

HDFC SKY charge Rs. 20 per stock for pledging and Rs.20 per stock for un-pledging. This charge is for request and not for quantity.

Digging down more, consider below two examples:

1. You have 10 shares of YESBANK, 20 shares of TCS, here when you place request for pledge 5 shares of YESBANK and 20 shares of TCS, you will charge for two stocks as (20*2) Rs. 40 in total.

2. Now you have already placed pledge request for 5 shares of YESBANK but you have to again pledge remaining 5 shares of YESBANK so you will be again charged Rs. 20 for this.

3. On the same day, you are un-pledging 5 shares of YESBANK which you have already pledged, you will again charge Rs.20 for un-pledge request.

Negative Balance:

In HDFC SKY, when your fund balance goes negative, you will be charged some amount. Let’s understand it in better way by referring below mentioned example:

By pledging stocks, you have got Rs. 10,000 margin. Now you have took some trade and suffered losses and your margin has become negative as – Rs.20,000 and your SKY fund balance is zero. Here SKY will daily charge you 0.0048% + GST.

To avoid this don’t keep your fund balance negative.
